The powerful set of tools and methods now known as T4 and Friends grew up under the shadow of OpenVMS and proved itself to be remarkably valuable as a time-saving, productivity enhancing approach in that environment. What we have discovered is that the T4 approach can be extended well beyond OpenVMS with the possibility of achieving similar benefits in other areas where performance is important. Ongoing work has already broadened the reach of T4 to TCP/IP, EVA storage, Linux, and both Rdb and Oracle databases with some preliminary recent work with RTR and HP-UX and XP storage. This session will highlight and explain these extensions and explicitly outline the relatively straightforward steps that are required to extend T4 to your most important performance situations.
